Following the publication of a report by the Care Quality Commission into Yorkshire Ambulance Trust that raised serious concerns about safety and leadership, Andrea spoke live to BBC Radio Leeds’ Liz Green.
As a member of the Health Select Committee Andrea is concerned about the findings of the report, and called for the establishment of stable and effective management, after a history of change at senior levels was identified by the report.
Andrea said: “The main encouraging thing is the high patient satisfaction, but this is put at risk by poor performance in hygiene and safety standards.
“It’s down to leadership, and showing that measures are in place and that safety should be a priority.”
Andrea is looking forward to spending some time with the Ambulance Trust to see how improvements are being made, and will be supporting improvements through her post on the Health Select Committee.
