Andrea today gave her fourth question to the Prime Minister since becoming MP for Morley and Outwood in May.

Questioning the Prime Minister on education, Andrea praised the improved results at Bruntcliffe School, saying:

“Bruntcliffe School in my constituency was a struggling school, who recently achieved their second best results in the school’s history”

She also highlighted the success of the GORSE Academies Trust in helping this school, saying:

“The school reopened this September as part of the highly successful GORSE Academies Trust, and continues to grow from strength to strength.”

Andrea asked the Prime Minister what he and the government are doing to ensure all pupils in the country receive a “great education and that no school is left behind.”

The Prime Minister replied:

“In school after school in our country often in some quite challenging neighbourhoods we’re seeing inspirational head teachers using the new tools that we have given them and driving up standards and measuring, I think, the percentage of those children getting 5 good GCSEs is a key way to measure progress”

“I’ve been to schools myself where I’ve seen a 10, 20, sometimes even 30 point improvement and often schools in inner city areas now doing better than many schools in rather more well-heeled suburban areas.”

“That shows with the right teaching and the right leadership you can have real social opportunity right through our country.”
